Herndon Police offer a "Safe Trade Zone" at police station

This is a very good service to offer and I hope people use the location for safer transactions. Have anyone you do not know meet you at the police station to complete a transaction/drop off or pickup of items sold over for example Craigslist.

The Herndon Police Department is pleased to announce the establishment of a “Safe Trade Zone” for use by the public as a meeting place to complete online transactions in the parking lot of the Herndon Police Headquarters.

The zone is located in the front parking lot of the Herndon Police Headquarters located at 397 Herndon Parkway, Herndon, Virginia.  The area is well lit and monitored by security cameras.  Transactions may also be completed in the lobby of the police station, which is open 24 hours-a-day, 
7 days-a-week.  Members of the police department are not available to provide legal advice, nor settle disputes or act as witnesses to transactions.  

The Herndon Police Department cannot guarantee the quality or authenticity of items purchased online.  Be cautious of someone who is hesitant about completing a transaction in a “Safe Trade Zone.” It may be a warning sign not to conduct business with this person.  Chief Maggie DeBoard said, “We want the public to feel safe while conducting online transactions and a Safe Trade Zone offers an excellent location for people to complete the process without worry.”
